(Belated) Saturday Sharing: Halloween is coming, here, and then gone

Who looks forward to October? I know I do. In fact, I stock up on all the horror movies I love and want to see so that I can amp up for Halloween. Visions of getting the bloody hell scared out of me dances in my head nine out of ten months of the year...then very briskly October flashes by and I don't watch nearly as many as I want to. It's a pretty vicious cycle that's been repeating for as long as I can remember.

Somewhere in between planning Halloween costumes, making my B plan Halloween costume, school and generally being excited over Halloween, I only manage to listen to the Nightmare Before Christmassoundtrack as I hand out treats to little kids on my front porch. This year I'm devoted to watching many more horror films..because it's just about time to celebrate Halloween with some suspense, ghouls and other creepy crawlies. Hopefully you'll see one or two of the films blogged somewhere on here.

J.J. Abrams apologized for his love of lens flares. Personally, I don't accept his apology. Can you picture the angel-halo effect you'd love to have surround you when you walked through a room?  I always imagine how life can be more perfect with glaring white light peeking through every corner.

+ Now I know chick lit has really gone in the toilet - not that I shouldn't have seen the signs before with 50 Shades of Grey...but Helen Fielding with Bridget Jones is up to their old schemes and Mark Darcy is their biggest victim. Did anyone else hear that our beloved Mr. Darcy was killed off in the new novel? I can never watch the original film adaptation the same ever again.

+ Jessica Chastain only got more perfect as new preparation photos of Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak have been released online. She's simply adorable.

+ Stephen Colbert inspired Daniel Radcliffe to challenge Lord of the Rings' Elijah Wood to a fight. Who in their right mind wouldn't want to see Harry Potter vs Frodo?

+ Sleepy Hollow was granted with a second season on Fox. Personally, I find the show a bit of a hit and miss. The episodes feel like they are taking on a bit too much for a first season to understand every back story that's going on.

With the new posters of American Hustle released, I keep waiting for someone to tell me that this movie is a comedy. Besides Amy Adams playing Bernadatte Peters in a biopic, the posters are over the top photoshopped. I'm finding it hard to believe this is the front runner of the Oscars above so many other pictures that look far better. Is this going to be the year David O. Russell is hailed as the director to cherish and he'll pick up all the awards?...I hope not.
